A little about me and my lifelong love of design

I have always been passionate about my homes – the colours, home accessories and Art work that surround me and my family. The casa is where our hearts are – and perhaps the thing I love most about Interior Design is creating the ambience that expresses my clients\’ most cherished vision in all aspects of their homes – from the formal social areas, to personal havens, to children’s spaces and the casual hangouts.

My childhood home in Sicily seemed like a palace to me. I remember admiring the particular way that all the decorative objects were beautifully placed. From my first and recent homes in London, to my later residences in Milan, Lake Como, Morocco and Rome, my interiors have always reflected a harmony between that which is significant to me and that which reflected the atmosphere of the particular space and local context.

After years of encouragement from friends and visitors who expressed appreciation for my homes and the homes of my friends, whom I gladly assisted in decorating and shopping, I decided to turn this lifelong passion into my profession. In November 2014, I graduated in Interior Design at KLC School of Design in London. I was already working with several residential clients by then, and in January 2015, I launched my formal interior design studio: GS Interior Design.

My process – plus a little something from the Mediterranean

I like to start on a neutral background, like a white canvas, and develop my design schemes by adding beautiful layers of different textures and touches of colours. My designs integrate rich textiles, original decorative objects and carefully sourced Art work – modern and antique furniture can be blended harmoniously together. In all my design schemes, I import my Italian flair and passion for multi-cultural trends and influences. My travels to all corners of the globe inspire me and connect me with new sources of Art and Design – this is part of what I bring to my Interior projects.

Enhancing the way you really live

Besides creating fluid and elegant spaces , I am dedicated to understanding the client’s needs and aspirations and work closely with individuals or couples to infuse their homes with their unique character. My task is to evaluate and maximize the potential of existing elements of the space – through imagination and vision – and the result is an interior that is functional, appealing and most importantly that reflects the client’s individuality….. through a timeless but yet contemporary style.
